TOOLS—
Wordpress, Figma
As a volunteer on Catchafire, I get the opportunity to interact with several non-profit companies and small companies throughout the country and help them out in whatever capacity I can.
When PUSH Dance Company reached out to me to help them create an impact report, and make a few updates on their website, I was excited! Throughout my time working with them, I learned a lot about creating pages on Wordpress, and how making tiny tweaks could greatly improve the user experience for maximum impact. Sometimes, less is more!

Context
Who is PUSH?

PUSH Dance Company is a boutique dance studio centrally located in downtown San Francisco that offers "classes and workshops with a focus on mindfulness alongside restorative dance practices."
Goal
Minor updates + impact report creation
They reached out to me with the request that they wanted to update their website, pushdance.org, with the following agenda:
Create an impact report for the previous year (2023 — 2024).
Update the footer and make it easier to navigate and find certain pages, including the booking form.
Organize the Company Overview page and make it easier to read.
Problem # 1
Insufficient Footer
The existing footer had a single column, which was populated with Quick links, which was not sufficient for the needs of the organization which have expanded beyond the original footer's capacity. There was also no contact information or social media links, which is considered a design standard nowadays.
PUSH wanted more links placed in the footer, redirecting patrons to the pages they are most likely interested in.
Based on their requirements, I presented them with a footer prototype designed in Figma. The new solution proposed 4 columns, with social media links, contact information, classes, and events sorted respectively.

Solution # 1

Problem # 2
Incomplete Overview Page
The current overview page did not reflect all the members of the leadership and important documents.
The leadership council was not all reflected in the overview page along with important tax documents to remain compliant. The leadership council page was also disorganized and did not reflect accurate appropriate hierarchy.

Solution # 2
My solution to this was to organize leadership by category and to split them into two rows. For the documents, I used interactive buttons to insert links underneath the leadership. This allowed PUSH to remain in compliance with current requirements, and have updated contact information listed out nicely and in hierarchy.

Problem # 3
Impact Report Creation
PUSH wanted an Impact Report based on the previous years' impact and achievements.

Challenges
Head first, fearless
Limitations ⚠️
↳ The main challenge I faced with this project was getting acclimated to a new ecosystem i.e. Wordpress. Although I had experience with the platform before, it had been awhile since I last used it. I had to learn how their site operated in tandem with all their installed plugins, and I really enjoyed learning the process!
